It's been one million years (or about two months) since I posted on here and I'm not exactly sure why... While I was at Shaw House, I was extremely busy and I was truthfully too consumed with life to write in here. But I left Boston over three weeks ago and my average day here in California is far less exciting or hectic... meaning I don't really have any excuse for not updating this sad excuse of a blog. I think part of the problem is that I'm still processing my experiences from earlier this summer in Boston, still sorting through family chaos, still settling back into life in San Diego... but I'm not sure what the rest of the problem may be. I guess I'll just have to wait and find out.
Until then, I'm going to try to write in here again, starting with an update on my life for the past few months. Here goes:
I spent six weeks in Boston as part of my scholarship program living in a house with nine other amazing individuals, interning at a women's shelter and a county prison, reading/writing/talking about social justice, and exploring the city on the weekends. It was an experience that was more wonderful and more life-changing than I could have ever expected. It can't really be contained in words or pictures, but I'll use a few to give you a taste anyway (and if you want a more thorough account, check out The Shlog):
Beautiful graffiti near Hi-Lo Grocery (best tortillas in town!)

And a lovely shot of the shfamily singing the shong

As for life since Shaw... it's been a little more boring, but pleasant nonetheless, I guess. I spend my days reading, watching movies, hanging out with my dogs, chillin' outside, and babysitting (and, as of tonight, blogging.) I still have a month left though, and I hope I can challenge myself to make it more interesting...
