Well, my computer (recently christened Bernardo) got some malware installed on it and after leaving it with the tech help desk people here at school, the malware is all gone and Bernardo's fixed, but he's also strangely empty. To get the malware off, they had to rebuild Bernardo and thus wipe his hard drive, so all my documents and pictures and music are gone. Granted, I've had Bernardo for less than a year, but that's still like nine thousand songs down the drain...
It's kind of inconvenient, but it's also kind of refreshing. Like I told my dad the other day, I tend to be the sort of person who holds on to everything, so to me, this spontaneous renewal of all my cyber-possessions is like a forest fire. I don't mean the kind that are started by arsonists or irresponsible marshmallow roasters; I'm talking about those natural, periodic fires that run through forests, clearing away the weeds and brush, making way for new growth. That's where I am right now, at least computer-wise, and it's nice.
But I'll still miss some of my music.
A Forest Fire?
